    Money Supply

Financial institutions, services they provide and explain their role in expanding money supply

    By Arley Avila

Whether you are an employee, an employer, an individual, a student, an entrepreneur, an LLC, a corporation or any type of person, institution or organization, you will always have a need at some point of stage of the process of requiring the services and or product of a financial institution. Financial institutions are those that are engaged in all that involves transactions; in contrary to popular believe financial institutions are not just banks, they also include: trust companies, investment firms, private equity firms, brokerage firms and even insurance companies amongst others. These financial institutions are in charge of connecting money lenders with money suppliers, loans, investments, currency exchange, equity investments etc.

Financial institutions also come in every size from you local community credit union center to even global entities to meet any market needs. In order to expand the money supply lets take the example of a bank, it assumes that at no particular point in time all of the clients will withdraw all of the funds from their accounts, this means that when a deposit is made to a bank, the actual money is not saved as a cash account it only increases your available balance. Once the bank has the money that is deposited, it will add a portion to its reserves and the rest is lends to people, institutions, banks, and even governments, these banks will charge an interest for the money it lends and it will expand the money supply from the interests, and also applying the money multiplying formula and factors to ensure that this expansion of the supply is met.

    – 4 parques temáticos, Magic Kingdom, Epcot, Disney’s Hollywood Studios y Disney’s Animal Kingdom

Adapting and transforming the way of thinking for camp operators and campers

        CHANGE IS A CONSTANT

        BY ARLEY G. AVILA *

The past year has been quite the learning experience for our humanity, not only were we faced with the possibility of human annihilation at one point of the collective perception of the pandemic, but also the economic implications that were directly tied to the external consequences of the pandemic; specifically for camp business owners, made us look at the world through a different scope.

Our Camp American Explorer Academy also Known as AEAExplorer, has been implementing, creating and delivering camps and experiences to different students around the world, we have a unique segmented market that conisist of international students that have grown with the concept of the “American Camp” experience, so we have created a specialized program to our specific demographic segment of our market. For more that 13 years we were able to expand to over 13 countries and offer what the USA has to offer, service, the best service available to our students and consequently we were able to build brand recognition, clientele loyalty and most importantly, happy campers.

But then 2020 came, the news of the possible pandemic was already spreading around the world and in the US as well, people were afraid, uncertain about what this meant for their personal, professional and social life; and they were right, the pandemic gave a shift to the convention of society and until today, there is no sociological study that may define what really happened to us in psychological sense. But we can measure what happened to the economy and in this case to our camps.

Speaking from my personal experience, the fact that the borders closed in a global stage, meant no more international students for my camp, until thinks started going back to normal, so our company, AEAExplorer, had sometime to analyze and interpret the strategies or lack of strategies specially in risk management and contingency tactics. We were faced as well as humanity, with the possibility of the end our ouf Camp Service Business.

As the pandemic progressed and we were in our homes trying to understand what happened, one thing for sure is eminent, that change has to be done, new strategic planning, new company goals, objectives, tactical planning, and operational management strategies, fortunately we as camp owners have a strong foundation and are part of an industry that thrives on positive thinking and transcendental experience making for our campers.

So it is actually the best time for us, to take a look at ourselves and our Camps and implement the next generations of leaders that can bring new ideas to our markets and our industries, new technologies, new markets, and new demographics need to be taken into considerations in order to have a camp with a long life span, our camps have been in operations for the past 14 years, and we are making all of the changes necessary to make our camp leader within our market, you can too!

Importance of English for employees. Why travel?

Advances in technology, including vastly improved telecommunications and the rapid expansion of online resources, have cemented the unique role of English as an international language. Even where nonnative speakers of English outnumber native speakers, English is most often used as an efficient means to communicate. Furthermore, in the global workplace, English has become an essential communication tool in conducting business transactions.

In Peru, as in other countries around the world, emphasis has sometimes been on isolated language skills, rather than on learning how to communicate in a comprehensive manner.

Good communication, of course, involves both give and take—or in the words of language experts—both productive and receptive language skills. Today, language-teaching approaches focus on building the learner’s ability to engage in real-life situations and tasks in the target language. The English speaker must be able to both take a phone call and answer the speaker; to write an e-mail and understand the reply; to conduct research and recommend a course of action; in short, to integrate listening, reading, speaking and writing, in any combination, in order to communicate successfully. It is time for us to look more closely at the day-to-day needs of our English-language learners—the need to understand and use English in everyday activities, to carry out routine social interactions, and to develop career-related communication skills. Here are some examples:

        • A customer writes an e-mail to ask about a company’s services; a company employee responds in another e-mail. Each person is writing and reading in English.

        • A multinational company posts an employment advertisement online. The resulting interview is carried out by video conference in English. The people in the interview are listening and speaking in English.

        • Research personnel read studies, conduct interviews, write reports and give presentations—all in English—to other employees in the company.

        • Matters of shared projects are discussed by colleagues in different locations or countries in a teleconference call. With many people contributing, the callers take notes for later reference. All four English language skills (listening, speaking, writing, and reading) are used.

In some cases, the situation may require only two language skills—one receptive (listening or reading) and one productive (speaking or writing). In most others, the English user must integrate all four skills of speaking, listening, writing and reading. Only rarely are skills used in isolation.

Assessment both of and for learning can actively contribute to improved proficiency in English language use. Language schools and prospective employers should understand that the relationship between language learning and language assessment is reciprocal—a two-way street. Formal and informal assessment in the classroom helps learners to recognize their strengths and weaknesses and to set goals for further study.

Standardized tests provide valuable feedback to both teacher and learner, directing the course of learning in and outside of the classroom. The scoring criteria of a well-designed language test can be invaluable tools in defining learning goals. Students who prepare for a test through the use of real-world tasks and by exposing themselves to English in their everyday lives are at the same time preparing themselves to use English in the real world.

Many multinational companies already seek candidates with proficiency in the language skills that are necessary for the job. Direct assessments of ability in all four skill areas allow these companies to ensure that employees can listen as well as speak and read as well as write. Assessment of the language skills needed in the global workplace, and the use of test information to further the proficiency of language learners, will help to ensure our continued success in communicating positively with colleagues around the world. Good English, in short, will mean good business results.

        Why to travel?

Studying abroad is a global phenomenon, with students crossing countries, continents and oceans to get the best education possible. But why has choosing a university destination in another country become so popular? The truth is, studying overseas has many fantastic benefits, from helping you find a good job to improving your social life. Still not sure? Then here are the top 8 reasons why you should study abroad.

        1. It’s a challenge

It may seem a strange point to start off on, but it should be said that studying abroad isn’t necessarily easy. There are unique challenges that come with going overseas to study, but that’s all part of the fun and the experience.

You may have some concerns before leaving your home country, but don’t worry: that’s completely natural. Stepping outside of your comfort zone is one of the things that makes the whole experience so valuable and worthwhile. After all, if you can travel overseas to study, you can do anything!

        2. Experience a different culture

royal guards on horses in London

One of the biggest advantages of studying abroad for many international students is the chance to become immersed in a totally different environment. This enriching experience will enable you to see and do things you wouldn’t expect, and meet people who have grown up in a different culture.

For instance, while living abroad you’ll be able to try new foods, hear traditional music, have a go at local activities and explore everything else your host culture has to offer. It’s also fascinating to learn to see your own culture through the eyes of somebody else’s – you can learn a lot about yourself and your home country this way!

        3. Top quality education

        study abroad in birmingham

Of course, no matter where you study, your goal is always going to be to get the highest possible quality of education. Becoming an international student can greatly broaden your study options. After all, why be limited to choosing a university in your home country?

Often, the best choice for you may be to study at a foreign university. For example, the UK, USA and Australia all have extremely highly regarded higher education systems, and a huge percentage of the world’s highest ranking universities are in these few countries.

        4. Learn a new language

        learning a new language

One huge benefit of studying abroad is the chance to learn a new language. Learning a language can be a real challenge, but there is nothing quite like living somewhere where that language is spoken natively. It really helps!

Since English is such a universally used language, it can be quite advantageous to study in a country such as the USA or the UK. You’ll be able to study in English, speak to locals and really develop your language skills.

        5. Career opportunities

        career-opportunities

Of course, the main reason for getting a degree in the first place is to improve your career prospects. In a globalised, well-connected world, employers increasingly value graduates with international experience and education.

Studying abroad helps you to learn new languages, appreciate other cultures, overcome challenges of living in another country and gain a greater understanding of the world. These are all things that modern businesses look for when hiring, and such traits will only become more important in the future.

        6. Make new friends

students clicking selfie near london underground

No matter where you go to university, you’re sure to meet lots of new people and make new friends who are all in the same position as you. When you study abroad, you have a unique opportunity to make friends with people from all kinds of different cultures, and learn about other countries and customs.

Many lifelong friendships start at university, and you’ll be able to live, learn and travel together during your studies. It can also be hugely beneficial to know people in different countries around the world – especially after you graduate!

        7. International travel

        usa-studying-abroad-travelling

As well as experiencing the culture of your study destination, you will also be able to travel to other nearby countries. For example, if you go to a UK university, you can easily to catch a flight to continental Europe to see Paris, Rome, Barcelona and many more fascinating places.

Studying abroad is therefore a unique opportunity to see more of the world, which is itself a hugely rewarding educational experience. There is no doubt that seeing other parts of the world will greatly affect your character and worldview, and help you prepare for life in a global world.

        8. Become independent

        inependent-studying-abroad

It’s often said that going to university is when you become truly independent from your parents and family. This is especially true when you go to university in another country!

Bringing us full circle, becoming independent is itself a challenge. But living and studying in another country will help shape you into an independent and adventurous adult, ready to succeed in your future career.
